UPDATE

Well its been some time now since i added anything to my blog its been a busy time these past few weeks with a few headaches regarding my aquarium after 20 years of experience i still make the same mistakes.Partly due to human error and its cost me dear Ive spent around £400 putting things wright Ive lost my mandarin blenny and also a new fish i introduced algae blenny the same day ,all because i changed my protein skimmer and removed some filters i don't do my water tests on a regular basis so therefore i was amazed to find that my nitrate was high this is due to the chemical biology proses ie fish waste produces nitrite and Armonia which then converts to nitrate which is the end product nitrite and Armonia are a killer and nitrate can make the fish uncomfortable that's the end produce of the biological process the next step is to remove the nitrate this is done by water changes or the use of chemicals the next thing i did was to put in new lighting this is halogen its expensive to run but is worth it in the end as its the closest thing to nature.Won't add anymore corals as i have no more room in the tank so i will concentrate on fish to get a balanced reef.Anyway signing off now so till next time aufweidersen.

Hi Dave,

Thank you for sharing with us all these fascinating details of your hobby. (which obviously means a lot to you) I have learned a great deal about what it entails in having an aquarium and keeping your fish healthy.
There appears to be a lot more involved than one would imagine, but it gives you pleasure which is the most important aspect....Best wishes D
